Rebuilding Sacred Hearts Schools in Lahaina, Maui
Before the start of my junior year, a year after the Lahaina fires, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu invited me to serve as a student representative for the reopening of Sacred Hearts School in Lahaina, Maui. These photos of the school's reopening ceremony show that they were able to rise above and move forward after such a tragedy. I documented photos of Lahaina, where the school previously was, and the damage that spread throughout the area, as well as the new school that was recently built with brand new classrooms.
Christmas Spectacular
It was such a fun experience to be able to cover Sacred Hearts Academy’s Christmas Spectacular, which is in collaboration with Mo’olelo Studios! A Christmas play was inside the auditorium, and outside, the Academy is transformed into a winter wonderland, with letters and photos with Santa, gingerbread house decorating, s’mores, and at the end, a snow and light show fills the air!

Japan
During spring break junior year, my family and I went to Japan for the first time. When we were figuring out where we should visit, we knew we wanted to experience the usual city life but also wanted to see what it would be like off-the-beaten-track, in areas that are more personal and quaint. In total, we visited three different cities – Hakone, Shibuya, and Kamakura. I documented every city we went to and showed the beautiful sights of each area!
Nanding's Bakery
To show the effort and love put into each roll at Nanding’s Bakery, in Kapahulu, I decided to document not only what the customers see, but also the behind-the-scenes of making their popular Filipino bakery items. I went to the kitchen, and took photos of them rolling and prepping Spanish rolls to go into the oven, then up front, I took photos of Cassandra Morete, a Sacred Hearts Student, greeting customers as well as the bakery items on display.
